A brilliant day! Have been really inspired by the artist camp and its surroundings. Began with a conversation with Prantik discussing language. So kamun achha (yeah, I know the spelling is wrong) everyone. It is my intention to record it tomorrow as this, to me, is what a residency is about, these exchanges whatever their subject. Next, I took my small recorder to the round house and played what I was hearing around me. It needs a little editing as I shuffled my feet. Later I was taken to the next farm where I hit the siren. This was a metal disc that was used as a ‘come to tea, end of work’ type signal for the farm workers. It was not as I had imagined, just a solid iron disc suspended form the edge of a building. Have attached this sound clip but it is a little loud in places.
