Artists’ residencies are central to Artcore’s work. We support and promote the work of contemporary artists and makers at all stages of their development and aim to use art to bring about positive changes to the lives of people of every age, ability and cultural background. Our residencies are shared with our audiences through exhibitions, screenings, talks and events.
Each year we host three thematic residencies for six emerging artists in the East Midlands, providing them with a studio space, financial and curatorial support to help them develop professionally and artistically. We also create residencies for established UK and International artists and select a group of the most talented arts graduates from the region each year, helping them to make the leap from university to becoming successful professional artists through an intensive residency project. Some of our opportunities are International, taking UK artists to India to work collaboratively with Indian artists, and in 2021 we plan to begin working with artists and galleries in Derby’s twin city, Osnabruck in Germany.
