Our Fragile Planet – Exhibition by Christine Martin

Opening on the 13th December 2019

This December our gallery space on Charnwood Street will be presenting a collection of drawings on textiles by Christine Martin.

The large textiles, each 1.5m by 1m, tell a narrative of the ecological devastation being wrought on the planet in the contemporary world. With a focus on the animals which are classified as endangered, such as the Siberian Tiger, the illustrations tell a considered tale of what will be lost if current trends of environmental destruction continue.

Christine Martin graduated from the University of Derby in 2004. With a focus on fine detailed drawings, Christine is influenced by anatomical studies, physiology and the preparatory sketches of old masters.
