Circling the Square: Visions ofan Unmade City
For the physical presentation of Circling the Square: Visions of an Unmade City, Ryan Heath is exhibiting his new single-channel video, Ritual Practice, 2021, at Artcore Gallery. Within the video, a young architect hires a millennial mystic to perform a mysterious ritual in an attempt to exorcise Osnabruck Square of unwanted energy. Things go awry when they are confronted by the square’s guardian, whose design was aided by members of Artcore’s community in a workshop led by the artist. The work is result of Heath’s interest in the merging of mysticism and capital in the public realm.
Circling the Square: Visions of an Unmade City is showing at Artcore Gallery from 4 – 17 June 2021.
Artists in Residence Ryan Heath and Katy Hawkins will be in conversation with Artcore Gallery on Thursday 17 June. Book your tickets here.
