Sudipta Das (b.1985) in Silchar, Assam, is an award winning Visual Artist whose peculiar techniques explore poignant narratives through the unconventional use of paper. Her creative practice explores the physical processes or techniques that bring catharsis through memory, issues of identity, Diaspora, war and migration. By piecing together inherited
memories she creates sculptural forms and pictorial ballads that invoke their own presence through their textural qualities and detailed character.
Sudipta has received several note-worthy fellowships including the Junior Research Fellowship by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India (2013) and been part of multiple residencies both nationally and internationally that have radicalized her approach towards experimentation in medium. Yet the diorama of her work is highly congruous to the truest values of humanity, a call to action for onlookers. The artist completed her BFA and MFA in painting from Kala Bhavan, Visva- Bharati, Santiniketan in 2009 and 2011 respectively. She lives and works in Baroda.
